How it works

To convert a weight, multiply it by the size of the first unit in kilograms, then divide by the size of the second. One pound is exactly 0.45359237 kilograms, and one ounce is one sixteenth of a pound. Type in either box to convert both ways.

result = value × kilograms in first unit ÷ kilograms in second unit

Pounds and kilograms have a fixed relationship, set by an international agreement in 1959. All the imperial units here are built from that exact value.

Worked example. To change 10 kilograms to pounds: 10 ÷ 0.45359237 ≈ 22.05 pounds.
