How it works
To convert an area, multiply it by the size of the first unit in square metres, then divide by the size of the second. One square foot is exactly 0.09290304 square metres, and one acre is exactly 4,046.8564224 square metres. Type in either box to convert both ways.
result = value × square metres in first unit ÷ square metres in second unit
Area factors are the squares of exact lengths. A foot is 0.3048 metres, so a square foot is 0.3048 × 0.3048 square metres.
Worked example. To change 1,000 square feet to square metres: 1,000 × 0.09290304 = 92.9 square metres.
