Remove duplicate lines
Clean a list by removing repeated lines
Runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
How it works
Paste a list to remove repeated lines. The first copy of each line stays, in its original order, and we tell you how many were removed. You can ignore capitals, ignore spaces at the ends of lines, and sort the result. It’s useful for email lists, keywords and logs. Nothing leaves your browser.
Keep the first of each line, and drop any later copies.
We go through the lines in order and remember each one. Any later copy is dropped, so the order of your list doesn’t change unless you sort it.
Worked example. A list of “apple, pear, apple, plum” becomes “apple, pear, plum”, in the same order.
Examples
| Lines in | Lines out |
|---|---|
| a, b, a | a, b |
What this tool doesn’t cover
- Lines must match fully. Similar lines aren’t treated as the same.
