Add or remove GST at the current rates
Runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
How it works
To add GST, multiply the amount by the rate and add the result. To remove GST, divide the total by 1 plus the rate. At 18%, ₹4,500 becomes ₹5,310. Within a state, the tax splits equally into CGST and SGST. Between states, it is all IGST.
gst = amount × rate ÷ 100
GST stands for Goods and Services Tax. CGST is the central part, SGST is the state part, and IGST applies to sales between states.
We work in whole paise and round once, at the end. If the tax can’t split evenly, one half takes the extra paisa, so the lines always add up.
Worked example. ₹4,500.00 + 18% GST = ₹5,310.00 (CGST ₹405.00, SGST ₹405.00). To remove GST, divide the total by 1 + rate: ₹5,310.00 ÷ 1.18 = ₹4,500.00.

| Amount | Rate | GST | Total |

| ₹1,000.00 | 40% | ₹400.00 | ₹1,400.00 |

Questions
What are the main GST rates?
Since 22 September 2025, the main rates are 5%, 18% and 40%. Some goods have other rates, so use Other for those.
What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?
A sale within a state has CGST and SGST, split equally. A sale between states has IGST at the full rate.
How do I remove GST from a price?
Divide the price by 1 plus the rate. For 18%, divide by 1.18. Choose Remove GST and this tool does it for you.
How do I calculate GST on a price?
Multiply the price by the rate and add the result. For 18% on ₹1,000, the tax is ₹180 and the total is ₹1,180.
Is GST added to the MRP?
No. In India, the MRP already includes all taxes, so a shop can’t add GST on top of it.
