CSV to JSON converter
Convert between CSV and JSON both ways
Runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
How it works
CSV stores a table as lines of text, and JSON stores it as a list of objects. Paste either one to convert it. We detect commas, semicolons and tabs for you, handle quoted fields with commas and line breaks inside them, and show a preview table. Everything runs in your browser, so data stays private.
Each row becomes an object, named by the header row.
With a header row, each line becomes an object named by the headers. Values stay as text, so a value like 007 isn’t changed to 7.
Worked example. The CSV “name, age” then “Asha,30” becomes [{"name": "Asha", "age": "30"}]. Values stay as text, so nothing is changed.
Examples
| Separator | Example |
|---|---|
| Comma | a,b |
| Semicolon | a;b |
| Tab | a⇥b |
What this tool doesn’t cover
- All CSV values come through as text, because CSV has no types.
Questions
What if a value contains a comma?
That’s fine if it’s in double quotes, which is the standard way.
Why are numbers in quotes in the JSON?
CSV has no types, so we keep each value exactly as written.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser.
How do I convert a CSV file to JSON?
Paste your CSV, and the first row becomes the keys. Each following row becomes one object in the JSON list.
What if my file uses semicolons?
Choose the semicolon as your separator. Some regions use semicolons because the comma marks decimals.
