How it works
PPF stands for Public Provident Fund, a long-term savings scheme backed by the Government of India. The minimum term is 15 years, and the yearly limit is ₹1,50,000. At an assumed 7.1%, depositing the full ₹1,50,000 each year for 15 years gives about ₹40,68,209.
balance = (balance + deposit) × (1 + rate), each year
We assume you deposit by 5 April each year, so the money earns interest for the whole year.
The government reviews the rate every quarter. This tool uses one rate for the whole term, so enter the current rate.
Worked example. ₹1,50,000 a year at 7.1% for 15 years: you deposit ₹22,50,000.00, and the maturity amount is ₹40,68,209.22.
