Work out the sale price and how much you save

Use it at https://www.quicktoolz.com/tools/discount-calculator. From QuickToolz.

To find a sale price, multiply the price by 1 minus the discount. So 25% off ₹2,000 is ₹1,500, and you save ₹500. Two discounts multiply rather than add, so 20% off and then 10% off comes to 28% off, not 30%. You can also work backwards from what you paid.

## How it works

you pay = price × (1 − discount ÷ 100)

A discount is a percentage of the price. A second discount is taken from the price that’s already been reduced.

Worked example: 25% off ₹2,000 is 2,000 × 0.75 = ₹1,500.00. You save ₹500.00.

## Examples

| Price | Discount | You save | You pay |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| ₹500.00 | 10% | ₹50.00 | ₹450.00 |
| ₹2,000.00 | 25% | ₹500.00 | ₹1,500.00 |
| ₹5,000.00 | 40% | ₹2,000.00 | ₹3,000.00 |
| ₹12,999.00 | 15% | ₹1,949.85 | ₹11,049.15 |

## What this tool doesn't cover

- Tax isn’t included, unless your price already includes it.

## Questions

### Do two discounts add up?

No. The second comes off the reduced price, so 20% and 10% make 28% in total.

### How do I find the original price?

Choose Find the original, then enter what you paid and the discount.

### Can a discount be over 100%?

No. We show an error, because a shop can’t take more than the full price off.

### How do I calculate a percentage off?

Multiply the price by the discount, then divide by 100, and subtract the result. So 20% off ₹1,500 is ₹300 off, or ₹1,200.

### How do I work out the discount percentage from two prices?

Subtract the sale price from the original price, divide by the original price, then multiply by 100.
