# Date difference calculator

Count the days, weeks and working days between dates

Use it at https://www.quicktoolz.com/tools/date-difference-calculator. From QuickToolz.

To find the number of days between two dates, count from the start date to the end date, leaving out the start date itself. From 1 January to 31 December 2026 is 364 days, or 365 if you count the end date as well. Tick the box to include it.

## How it works

days = end date − start date

We use plain calendar dates with no time of day, so a clock change can’t add or remove a day.

Working days count Monday to Friday, with both ends included. They don’t skip public holidays.

Worked example: From 01 Jan 2026 to 31 Dec 2026 is 364 days. Count the end date as well and it’s 365, the whole year.

## Examples

| From | To | Difference |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 01 Jan 2026 | 01 Feb 2026 | 31 days |
| 01 Jan 2024 | 01 Jan 2025 | 366 days |
| 01 Jan 2025 | 01 Jan 2026 | 365 days |

## What this tool doesn't cover

- Working days don’t account for public holidays.

## Questions

### Should I include the end date?

Include it when both days count, such as a hotel stay or a leave request. Leave it out for an age or a gap.

### What if the end date is before the start?

We swap them and tell you.

### Do working days skip holidays?

No. Holidays vary by state and country, so this counts Monday to Friday only.

### How do I count the days between two dates?

Enter both dates. The tool handles month lengths and leap years, which is where counting by hand usually goes wrong.

### How many weeks are between two dates?

Divide the number of days by 7. The result shows the full weeks and any days left over.
